Kamoo is a
village located in the Isfahan province (central Persia) adjacent to the
major cities of Kashan and Goolpaygan. The village Kamoo and many others
spread out over awe inspiring geography have been made famous by the
artists (mothers & daughters) who inhabit these villages who weave the
most breathtaking and magnificent flat woven textiles in square sizes
for different utilitarian purposes, that feature an inexhaustible
repertoire of abstract designs in an array of color and geometry that
rival works by Picasso and other great artists.
The different square sizes denote whether the textile will be used to
make bread on (smaller sizes) or used to serve meals on (larger sizes)
or used to wrap bread in to keep fresh and secure from pests.
In Persian we call these textiles: Sofreh And in honor of this
extraordinary ancestral tribal art form that has captivated the
imagination of collectors and home makers alike, welcome to Kamoo
